New U2 Album Details Announced

(TORONTO – December 18, 2008) –  Universal Music Canada (UMC) – the country’s leading music company –  is thrilled to announce that the world’s #1 rock band, U2 is back!  U2 have just announced that the title of their hugely anticipated new studio album is No Line On The Horizon and will be available for purchase everywhere, Tuesday, March 3, 2009.

No Line On The Horizon is the group’s 12th studio album and their first full-length release since the five times platinum selling How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (2004).

Sessions for No Line On The Horizon began last year in Fez, Morocco, and continued in the band’s own studio in Dublin, before moving to New York’s Platinum Sound Recording Studios, and finally completing at Olympic Studios in London.

The album calls on the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite.

Skittles & Coca Cola

Saturday afternoon armed with nothing but a stack of Cat Stevens albums and a Navigation system, I drove up to surprise my best friend for her birthday. We hadn’t seen each other in ages. (Though we have known each other for just over twenty years!) We have been wanting to hang out for a while. So I got in touch with her husband, Nathan, and he helped me plan a surprise trip up there. The whole journey was a fun adventure!

I started out on my own with a new Cat Stevens album to enjoy. It was fun.

I stopped at The Corner Store in Waco to pick up Coke and Skittles. (It’s tradition that Katie and I drink Coke out of wine glasses like when we were kids.) The lady at the store was super nice and let me try a deep fried pork rib. Amazingly, it was really good.

Katie seemed happy that I had snuck into town.

We had fun getting together with some of her friends and going out for drinks, cigars and football. I had a blast meeting Desiree and talking about our babies.

I was happy to be the one who got to introduce Katie to lemon drop shots. Twenty years later and we are still best friends!

None of it would have been possible without the help of Katie’s husband, Nathan. (This picture was taken on the sly…at least we thought so at the time.)

Twenty years of friendship is a long and wonderful time full of countless memories. I can’t wait to see what the next twenty years hold!

Happy Birthday!

A big happy birthday goes out to General Sam Houston and to Texas.  General Sam Houston was born on this day in 1793.  The Republic of Texas declared her independence from Mexico on this day in 1824.

I celebrated by heading up to the Texas Independence Day Festival with friends.  Pictures can be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2035140&l=29108&id=199305787

Happy birthday General Houston and Texas!
