A Bunch of Stuff…Nothing Important

The Beatles make me happy.  Don’t they make you happy?

I’ve been really awful about blogging lately.  I mean, I’ve blogged, but I haven’t really blogged about my life or what is going on.  Sorry!

Memorial Day weekend was fun for our family.  We were supposed to take a nice cruise down to Mexico but thanks to the ridiculous swine flu scare (oink,  oink) our cruise got canceled.  Being that is was Joe’s Bon Voyage Cruise before he left for life as a Marine, and we all had the time off from work and school already, we decided to make a vacation out of that weekend anyway by renting a $250,000 houseboat on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas.

The houseboat was swanky and Lake Ouachita is gorgeous.  Too bad it is in Arkansas.  Oh how I dislike that state.  How do I loathe thee?  Let me count the ways!  Even though we were in Arkansas, and not in God’s Country, we had a blasty blast.

We ran, skipped, drank,  hopped, swam, splashed, dunked, slid, cannonballed, batman dived, napped, ate, watched too much tv, played cards, and spent waaaay too many hours on the road.  It was a ton of fun and full of memories that will last forever.

Now we are all back in Houston and on to every day life.  Joe continues to train up for his departure date.  (We still aren’t sure when they will take him from us.)  Everyone else is remains busy working.  I have a friend coming in from out of town and I think we are going to make a day trip to San Antonio just for fun!  I’m looking forward to it.

What else?

Have you ever noticed how the news is always depressing?   So how about something to make you smile?  This is a car commercial but I could seriously watch this all day.  Fun stuff!

Oh…and Sunday you can go watch Singin’ In The Rain at the Caroline Weiss Law Building for free!  Be there at 2:00pm.

And too tired to post.  I’ll get to it at some point in the next few days.  For now…these pictures will have to keep you happy.

Back to Texas

It is good to be going home and will be nice to stop a few pace along the way.  Especially for the Beatles exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Buffalo

I’m so cold!

Our trip has gone by so quickly!  I can’t believe we’ve been gone for over a week and seen all these amazing things.  I’m looking forward to posting pictures from the trip because we have some really great ones.  We had a blast going to Canadia (that is what I call it), seeing Niagra Falls, and eating at The Anchor Bar.  The Anchor Bar is where Buffalo wings were invented.

We had Christmas with our Buffalo family last night and it really made me miss John and Sarah.  They were unable to come with us because of work.  Before we left for the trip it was decided that we would skip having a Christmas tree this year since we wouldn’t be home to see it.  That was a big deal for us.  It would be the first time in 25 years that we didn’t have a Christmas tree.

Well, John and Sarah decided to surprise us with a ten foot tall tree!  (We always cut down our own live trees.)  I can’t wait to get home and see it.  They said it pretty much takes up the whole living room.  It will be nice to be back home in time for Christmas.

My parents 25th wedding Anniversary is right around the corner.  (December 30th.)  They have decided that they would like to celebrate it by taking a family trip to New Orleans.  We can see some great live music, eat at Commander’s Palace, shop at Jimmy Buffett’s, and grab beignets at Cafe du Monde.  It should be a fun time for all.

Well, I’m off to spend the day tooling around town with family until we have dinner with our super fun and crazy Uncle Mark.  (He is the one who has the best stories on my mother.)  Tomorrow we are on the road and off to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.  Woohoo!  I can’t wait to see the new Beatles exhibit

I’m ready to be home.  I miss my friends so much.  (And you know who you two are.)  :-*  Oh…I had a funny incident happen to me today.  I went to the front desk of our super nice hotel and asked if they had any stamps for sale.  The jolly young girl says, “Sure!  How many to do you need?”  I reply back with, “17.”  That was the point when her face dropped in amazment.  So, I’ll be making a trip to a post office today.

Quote of the Night

Joe (my brother): Hey look, Erin!  It is snowing again.

Erin (his girlfriend…said in disgust): Who even cares?

I think we are all ready for t-shirts, shorts and flip flops. Three feet of snow gets old fast.  Seriously fast.

Life is just busy.

Life seems to be one crazy mess of work, traveling, poker games, drinking, live music, and hearty religious debates brought on by Protestants drinking on our back porch. In all honesty…it doesn’t suck.

In the next six months: New Orleans, New York City (with my loves!!), Buffalo, Christmas in the Great White North, Austin, one more girl’s trip to Las Vegas, one big ass party and hot-tubbing season!

Not to mention all the wedding planning that is taking place in our house!

It’s a hairy situation!

My hair is red…and brown…and blond. Ahh!

So I went to visit Dana, my hair guy. I love Dana to death and he’s the only man who I let touch my hair right now. (Well, I’d probably give in for Jason Bateman but that is another story.) Anyway, I walked in and told him I wanted something totally random and fun. Together we decided on chunky red and blond highlights. It took some getting used to but is sure is fun!

My kidneys are slowly healing. I’m all excited because I get to go see Dr. Winkle. Dr. Winkle is the “rock doc” at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Any time there is a show there he is backstage tending to the needs of the musicians. He has some great stories. The first time I met him he had his scrubs on with his motorcycle boots. He is pretty much bad ass. Plus, I think it is fun that I’m going to see Dr. Winkle for my tinkle.

I’m reading tons about NYC right now as we gear up for our trip there.
